A more efficient biorefining process

In a finding that could help put wheat alongside corn in terms of biofuel sources, researchers in Greece and the United Kingdom report the development of a new method for producing ethanol from wheat.

Market analyst Global Insight Inc. said in a new study entitled “The Biofuels Boom: Implications for Automotive, Agriculture & Energy” that “more than 100 billion gallons of bio-ethanol and biodiesel will be produced globally per year by 2030, an amount equal to more than 15% of the world’s road transport fuel needs."

Bids are now closed for expressions of interest for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) Renewable Energy Division, which is seeking co-investors for a series of joint ventures, as part of its mandate to launch a large-scale biofuels industry in Nigeria.
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) today announced a call for project proposals which support the development of markets for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
